The Espenyalluchs vineyard, a gently sloping one-hectare plot lying at 400 metres above sea level, has been planted with a careful massal selection from the best vine shoots from the Vinya dels Taus. All the mystical wisdom of this emblematic old vineyard has been transferred onto this one slope, which is carefully overseen in a process that combines both intuition and experience. The majesty of the grape became clear from the very first vintage in 2013, showing the meditative side of the Xarel·lo variety. The wine is fermented and aged in the winery’s oldest barrels. Espenyalluchs is a wine that retains the unmistakably reflective character of the white wines produced at the winery, and it aims to convey the purity of this variety.
A great challenge in 2011: plant vines in a completely unique environment, a gently sloping terrain at 400 metres above sea level. This naturally sloping vineyard produces high-altitude Xarel·lo which is bottled as Espenyalluchs and is also used, in some years, in the production of Improvisació.
